 Sébastien Rio was born in Vannes (France) in 1976. He received is Ph.D degree in 2004 from the University of Nantes under the supervision of Pr. P. Le Cloirec in GEPEA laboratory. His work focused on the preparation of porous carbonaceous sorbent from wastewater treatment plants sewage sludge with application to air and water treatment. He then spent 18 months as a postdoctoral position at RAPSODEE laboratory of Albi (France), working on the synthesis of hydroxyapatite as adsorbent for the abatement of heavy metals emission from waste incineration plant. From 2006 to 2007, he became ATER (non-permanent researcher and teacher) in GEPEA laboratory of Nantes and his research was centred on microfluidic and he has studied the hydrodynamic of emulsions in miniaturized systems. In 2007, he joined LPCIA. His research interests focus on chemical engineering applied to biomass and the development new biomaterials.
