Stéphane Menuel a rejoint l’équipe «Catalyse Supramoléculaire» de l’UCCS - Artois en 2007.
Aujourd’hui il est reconnu pour son expertise en synthèse de cyclodextrines modifiées ainsi que dans la conception d’architectures supramoléculaires élaborées et leurs utilisations en catalyse dans l’eau.
Ses recherches actuelles portent sur la caractérisation de systèmes supramoléculaires obtenus à partir de cyclodextrines, l’auto-organisation et la reconnaissance moléculaire. Il a joué un rôle important dans le développement des hydrogels supramoléculaires en catalyses, notamment par la mise en évidence d’émulsions de Pickering efficaces pour l’hydroformylation de substrats très hydrophobes. Actuellement, il porte un intérêt majeur à la catalyse supramoléculaire et au développement de milieu non conventionnel pour le développement d’une chimie écoresponsable.
